In a significant stride towards a greener and more sustainable future, Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) is on the verge of commissioning the state’s first 2 MW floating solar power plant. Nestled in the serene Kadirabad locality of Darbhanga district, this pioneering project is set to redefine clean energy generation in Bihar, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Avaada Energy and floatex.

Floatex, a leader in innovative solar solutions, has played a pivotal role in making this ambitious vision a reality. Avaada Energy, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, has joined forces with Floatex to harness the potential of Bihar’s water bodies for clean electricity production.

This floating solar power plant, spanning over a sprawling six-acre water body, is poised to revolutionize the way Bihar harnesses its natural resources for clean electricity production. The journey towards this remarkable endeavor began in October 2021, when Avaada Energy and Floatex embarked on the path to make Bihar a shining example of sustainable energy generation. Although the foundation work only commenced on November 15, the project has progressed at a remarkable pace, with the power plant now ready for commissioning.

At the heart of this innovative power plant are 4,004 cutting-edge solar modules, carefully installed on the tranquil surface of the pond. These modules harness the abundant sunlight to generate an impressive 505 megawatt peak (MWp) of electricity. Collectively, these modules will generate approximately 2 MW of green, clean energy, and in doing so, illuminate the lives of around 10,000 people in the state.

Beyond the immediate benefits of electrifying homes and businesses, this floating solar power plant also carries profound environmental implications. According to an official release from Avaada Energy and Floatex, it is expected to produce a staggering 2.7 million units of electricity annually. More significantly, over its 25-year lifecycle, it will contribute to the reduction of a remarkable 64,125 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. This represents a substantial leap towards mitigating climate change and preserving the environment for future generations.

Bihar Water Resources Minister, Sanjay Jha, took to Twitter to underscore the importance of floating solar power plants in the state’s sustainable development strategy. He revealed that this initiative aligns with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s visionary plan to utilize water bodies not only for clean energy generation but also for fostering fish farming. This multi-faceted approach promises to enhance livelihoods, stimulate economic growth, and protect the environment concurrently.

Excitingly, the momentum for floating solar power in Bihar is not confined to this inaugural project. Sanjay Jha also revealed that the state’s second floating solar plant is currently under construction in Supaul district and is anticipated to be fully operational by the end of March 2022. This underscores Bihar’s commitment to sustainable energy and its resolve to lead by example in the realm of renewable power generation.

In conclusion, Avaada Energy, in collaboration with Floatex, is powering Bihar’s journey towards a sustainable and eco-friendly future. By harnessing the power of the sun over water bodies, Bihar, with the support of Floatex, is not only illuminating its present but also securing a brighter and cleaner tomorrow. This initiative stands as a testament to the state’s dedication to clean energy, environmental stewardship, and economic prosperity for its people.
